My name is Valerie Jo, and I’ve always been fascinated by the power of the written word. The fact that ink on paper can transport our minds into another place, where we feel the emotions and see the surroundings of someone who doesn’t exist, is mind-boggling.
When I set out to make a career as an author, I thought about the books I loved to read. I have read and re-read the Perfect Chemistry series by Simone Elkeles and the Pushing the Limits series by Katie McGarry because I loved those characters so much. Each book focused on a new couple, but since they were side-characters in the previous books, I was invested and wanted to see how their love story played out.
BUT . . . I couldn’t leave behind the fantasy and paranormal worlds I had grown to love with series like Bloodlines by Richelle Mead and The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. The way those authors took our contemporary world and disrupted it with supernatural elements like magic and mythical creatures drew me into their series in a way that realistic, contemporary fiction could never do.
And thus, the Midnight Springs collection was born <3
Each book follows a different couple in the small town of Midnight Springs, where all of their stories are tied together by a magical ring and a spell book.
